Established in 2017, UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital is located in Longmont, Colorado. It is a 51-bed, acute-care hospital that provides a wide range of diagnostic tests, surgeries and treatments. In addition to the residents of Longmont, UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital is a convenient choice for the communities of Firestone, Frederick, Dacono, Erie, Mead, Platteville, Ft. Lupton, Erie and Berthoud.

Patients and visitors

Admissions

Admissions is your first step to accessing UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital services. Our goal is to ensure superior customer service while ensuring the correct information has been gathered regarding your needs and billing information. Our Admissions department is responsible for scheduling, pre-registering and registering patients; verifying insurance data; conducting financial counseling; estimating charges and collecting patient copays, deductibles and coinsurance at the time of service.

Care management

Care management at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital is here for you. We work with you, the patient, and your family as an advocate during your hospital stay. We will assist you as you transition through your hospitalization and help facilitate your discharge plan home or to another facility, if appropriate. We will work with your insurance to maximize your benefits and pre-authorize home needs as necessary. Your discharge plan may include the need for other services such as home oxygen, medical equipment or home-care services. The care management team will assist in making these arrangements.

All of our services are coordinated through your provider. We work closely with all of the UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital team to determine a safe discharge plan.

Complaints and Grievances

UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital encourages you to ask questions about your care during your stay. If we don’t meet your expectations or you have a specific concern during your stay, please let your caregiver know. You may also request to speak with the department manager or hospital supervisor.

Resolving a concern.
If you feel that your complaint has not been promptly resolved to your satisfaction or if you verbalize your request to file a grievance or submit a written complaint, the complaint will be forwarded to the UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital Patient Representative Office. The patient representative:

  • Serves as a liaison between patients, families, hospital and medical staff.
  • Advocates for patients’ rights.
  • Promotes patient satisfaction.
  • Serves as point of contact for organization-wide complaints and grievances.
  • Provides feedback from the patient to the organization to continually improve the patient experience.

Complaints are received 24 hours a day at 720.718.1020. A patient representative will contact the patient within three business days to acknowledge that it was received.

Medicare beneficiaries: If the grievance concerns premature discharge from the facility, the patient representative will immediately refer the grievance to the Care Coordination team. The patient representative will forward quality-of-care concerns to KEPRO upon request.

Food services

Longs Peak Café is our full-service cafeteria with a salad and soup bar, entrée bar, pizza, grill and more. The cafeteria is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. It is located near the main lobby on the south side of the building.

Sample Menu

Room service. As a visitor, you can order a tray from the room-service menu, for $7, to be delivered to your patient’s room. Payment is accepted when the tray is delivered; we accept cash, credit and debit cards.

Available seven days a week from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Vending machines are located in the hallway near the café to provide food and beverage options 24 hours a day.

Please notify us if you have an insurance plan change, coverage change or insurance loss, so we can properly bill your claims in a timely manner.

Interpretation and translation services

Please let any member of our team know if you would like an interpreter. Interpretation services are free and available 24 hours a day at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital using phones and tablets. A Spanish interpreter is also available onsite Monday through Friday, subject to availability. Any staff member at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital can request an interpreter for you or your family member. Advance requests are appreciated.

Parking

Parking at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital is free in any of our three patient and visitor lots. The lots are located on the south side of the hospital. The Emergency Department lot is on the west side.

Please inform the nursing staff if you will be leaving your car in the parking lot during your hospital stay. During winter months, security staff may need to move your car for snow-removal purposes if you leave it parked overnight.

Birth Center parking. Parents-to-be can find easy, reserved Birth Center parking spaces near the Emergency Department entrance on the southwest side of the hospital. These spaces are reserved for moms in labor. One of our volunteers or staff members will be happy to escort you to the Birthing Center on the third floor.

Who is PFAC?

We are community members who have had either personal or family interaction with hospital visits. We serve alongside the UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital staff to continually help improve the well-being and quality of care for our patients. We also seek to be an active part of our community.

Our Goal

We are a resource for Longs Peak Hospital staff to better connect with patients, families, visitors, UCHealth team members and the community we all serve. We seek to listen, understand, connect, support and communicate as we walk together to improve lives.

Patient rights

Privacy (HIPAA) and your information

At your request we keep information about your hospital stay private and confidential, as required by federal law (the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA).

One way we maintain your privacy is to set up a special password at your request. You tell us this password, which you may share with friends and family so they can find out how you’re doing. When callers give us your password, we can update them on your progress. If callers don’t know the password, we cannot tell them anything about your condition.

We’ll write your password on a note card for you to keep.

Advance directives and living wills

We can help you complete a Living Will or other advance directive at your pre-admission appointment. These legal documents spell out the care you want — or don’t want — in case you cannot make your own decisions and communicate them to us.

Pediatric care

At UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital, we offer specialized care for our youngest patients up through adolescents via a pediatric-hospitalist model. This means that if your child is admitted to the hospital in Longmont, you can expect consistent care with our local board-certified pediatricians. If your child requires a higher level of care, you can rest assured; our pediatricians have a strong collaborative relationship with Children’s Hospital Colorado. We strive to provide excellent communication to parents as well as our littlest patients, taking time with families to better understand concerns and assure all questions are addressed. Our pediatricians communicate with your child’s regular physician to keep them informed of the medical care your child receives.

UCHealthLongs Peak Hospital accepts only service animals in the building.

Security

UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital has on-site security 24 hours a day.

Security services offered at UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital:

  • Facility and campus monitoring.
  • Escorting patients and visitors throughout the campus.
  • Lost and found.

Our security staff is here for your safety. If you’re coming and going from the hospital late at night and would like an escort to your vehicle, ask your nurse to contact one of our officers. Our security staff would be happy to accompany you to your vehicle.

Smoking and tobacco free campus

Smoking and tobacco products of any kind are not permitted anywhere inside or on the grounds of University of Colorado Hospital and Anschutz Medical Campus.

Smoking products include any cigar, cigarette, pipes, or any smoking device or substance which is lighted and inhaled. This includes E-cigarettes.

Tobacco products include cigars, cigarettes, pipes, chewing tobacco, or snuff.

Spiritual care

The reflection chapel is a place for quiet meditation and prayer. The chapel is located on the second floor of UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital near the main staircase, across from the second-floor waiting room.

A chaplain is always available to provide spiritual encouragement and counsel as well as compassionate emotional support for people of all faiths.

The reflection chapel is open 24 hours a day.

Visitors

For the safety of our patients, visitors and staff:

Visitors to patients staying overnight (inpatients) or to the emergency department, are required to check in to receive a visitor badge. Visitor badges must be worn at all times.

Types of illnesses treated in a Virtual Urgent Care visit:

Insurance

Your Virtual Urgent Care visit may be covered by insurance. However, if your health plan denies this charge you will receive a bill for this service.

Many health plans are adding virtual visits (telehealth) as a covered benefit.  However, there are some healthcare plans that do not cover virtual visits, such as Medicare.

For most insurance plans, we will attempt to bill your insurance- you may be responsible for your co-payment amount prior to seeing the doctor. However, if your health plan denies this charge you will receive a bill for this service. Also, please note that to bill medical insurance, a successful video connection must occur between the patient and the doctor.

The UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital Foundation (LPHF) focuses on investing resources to improve the lives of our families, friends and neighbors in the greater Longmont and St. Vrain Valley areas. The UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital Foundation helps to provide value-added services not covered by insurance.

  • Through the generosity of individual, corporate and foundation donors, as well as through grants, the UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital Foundation provides funding to support innovative research and education, patient financial assistance, community health programs and enhancements to patient care.
  • Private donations from community members enable us to bridge gaps in services, accelerate new advances in health care and help thankful patients and families express gratitude. Many critically important services offered by UCHealth in northern Colorado would not exist without private donations.
  • The UCHealth Longs Peak Hospital Foundation goes beyond the hospital walls, making community health initiatives a priority for philanthropic focus. The UCHealth school-based Healthy Hearts program provides free heart-health education and blood pressure, BMI and cholesterol screenings to elementary, middle and high school students. In northern Colorado, 39,000 students have been screened since the program’s inception 26 years ago. LPHF focuses on expanding the program’s reach to serve students in the St. Vrain Valley School District.
  • 100 percent of every dollar donated goes to the foundation’s philanthropic funds, with no overhead costs or administrative fees removed.

Get With the Guidelines®

Providing optimal health care requires staying on top of constantly advancing treatment recommendations. That’s why we follow the latest guidance from the American Heart Association. Its Get With The Guidelines® program, helps ensure that patients get up-to-the-minute scientifically based treatment. We’ve been recognized for adhering to those exacting guidelines, helping patients live longer, healthier lives.

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recognize this hospital for achieving 85% or higher compliance with all Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Achievement Measures and 75% or higher compliance with five or more Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Quality Measures for two or more consecutive years and achieving Time to Intravenous Thrombolytic Therapy ≤ 60 minutes 50% or more of applicable acute ischemic stroke patients to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.

Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll™ — A national honor roll program for hospitals participating in Get With the Guidelines® (HF, Stroke) to reinforce evidence-based guidelines with hospitals that qualify for a Silver level or higher Achievement Award in the related Get with the Guidelines module. Hospital must be able to demonstrate at least 90% compliance for 12 consecutive months (Calendar Year) for the “Overall Diabetes Cardiovascular Initiative Composite Score” measure in the selected module.
