UCHealth is pleased to announce the appointment of David Thompson as chief financial officer (CFO) for UCHealth’s northern Colorado region, including Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, Longs Peak Hospital, Greeley Hospital and Yampa Valley Medical Center.

“UCHealth has a record of efficiency and strong finances which allows us to reinvest in the care we provide patients, to provide an excellent workplace for our employees, and to drive down the overall cost of health care. David will continue this focus to ensure we provide superior care for the patients and communities we serve,” said Kevin Unger, president and CEO of Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies.

Thompson brings extensive financial experience in integrated health care systems including his current role as CFO of Central Maine Healthcare, a three-hospital system that is affiliated with Mass General Hospital in Boston. His background also includes leadership positions at other health care systems.

UCHealth’s innovation and partnerships with industry partners have already led to the development of new technologies, improving the safety and quality of patient care and helping control health care costs.

“As a member of our financial leadership team, David will work closely with UCHealth’s innovation department and the development of products and tools to transform the future of health care,” said UCHealth CFO Dan Rieber.

Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University. He replaces Stephanie Doughty who retired from UCHealth earlier this year.
