UCHealth boosts care options in northern Colorado

New providers will care for patients in the areas of oncology, pulmonology, family medicine, neurology and other specialties

With the addition of 14 new providers in August, UCHealth is offering patients more options for primary and specialty care throughout northern Colorado.

From Firestone to Fort Collins, the new providers will care for patients in the areas of oncology, pulmonology, family medicine, neurology and other specialties. The doctors, physician assistants and nurse practitioners are joining UCHealth’s provider group, Colorado Health Medical Group, which is the fastest growing and most comprehensive multispecialty medical group in Colorado.

Dr. Thomas Fissenden joined the team at UCHealth Ear, Nose and Throat at Peakview Medical Center, 5881 W. 16th St. in Greeley.

As a specialist in head and neck surgery, Fissenden is particularly interested in endocrine surgery, diseases of the nasal passages and paranasal sinuses, hearing loss, voice disorders, head and neck cancer and pediatric ear, nose and throat conditions.

He puts patients first and aims to provide the best care he can because he knows first-hand what that can mean for patient.

“I was a patient myself and had several large operations as a child. The care I received inspired me to want have that same impact on others. Being a doctor is all I’ve ever wanted to do,” he said.

Fissenden earned a medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed a residency in otolaryngology at The George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Emily Hsu joined the team of providers at UCHealth Family Medicine at the new Carbon Valley Health Center, 11083 Colorado Blvd. in Firestone.

She is passionate about preventive health and sees family medicine as a tool to help guide people and families toward a healthy lifestyle.

“I believe life is a balance, and I am eager to serve and care for people of all ages, their families and the community with the utmost respect and compassion,” she said.

She is especially interested in children’s health, women’s health, mental health and wellness.

Hsu earned a medical degree from University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. She also completed a residency at Waco Family Medicine Residency Program in Texas.

Dr. Christopher Kempe joined the team at UCHealth Pulmonology at 2500 Rocky Mountain Ave. in Loveland.

As a pulmonologist, he believes in a holistic approach centered around caring for the whole person rather than simply treating symptoms or a disease.

He enjoys treating a range of pulmonary problems, from interstitial lung disease and lung cancer to sarcoidosis.

Kempe earned a medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Penn. He also completed a residency at Maine Medical Center and a pulmonary and critical care fellowship at Wexner Medical Center through The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Mark Landmeier joined the team at UCHealth Pulmonology, 2121 E. Harmony Road in Fort Collins.

He is interested general pulmonology care, but is especially interested in bronchoscopy, bronchiectasis, lung nodules, pneumonia, ventilator management and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

He earned a medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, Ill. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center, also in Maywood. He also completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Lynn Mathew joined the team of providers at UCHealth Cancer Care and Hematology, 2121 in Fort Collins.

As a medical oncologist, she focuses on the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, including colon, liver, stomach, esophagus and pancreatic cancers. She works as a part of a multidisciplinary team to provide complete care for patients.

She believes that shared decision-making is an important part of patient-centered cancer care.

Mathew earned a medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine in New York. She completed a residency and hematology and oncology fellowship through Hofstra University North Shore/Long Island Jewish School of Medicine in Manhasset, N.Y. and Lake Success, N.Y.

Dr. Daniel Muller joined the team of providers at UCHealth Rheumatology, 2121 E. Harmony Road in Fort Collins.

As a rheumatologist, he balances conventional medicine with possible referral for complementary modalities to maximize function using integrative medicine approach.

“I like patients to be actively involved in decisions about their care, and actively learning to improve their overall health through physical activity, methods of relaxation and optimizing diet,” he said.

Muller is especially interested in treatment of chronic inflammatory autoimmune syndromes. His research interests include the role of mindfulness meditation in optimizing mental and physical health.

He earned a medical degree from State University of New York School of Medicine in Stony Brook, N.Y. He completed a residency at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Dr. Claire Pederson joined the team of providers at UCHealth General Surgery, 2500 Rocky Mountain Ave. in Loveland.

As a surgeon, she strives to provide compassionate critical care and trauma care.

“I love having the opportunity to fix a problem or cure disease through surgery,” she said.

She is especially interested in trauma care, sepsis/shock and acute care surgery. Her research interests include rural trauma care.

Pederson earned a medical degree from University of Washington. She also completed a residency in general surgery at University of Kansas Medical Center and a fellowship in surgical critical care at University of Utah Hospital.

Dr. Brandon Stilson joined the team at UCHealth Family Medicine, 1455 Main St. in Windsor.

As a family medicine physician, he cares for patients of all ages, from newborn to senior health. His care philosophy is based around the primary care model that as a primary care physician, he will provide each patient with complete, comprehensive, evidence-based care that will be coordinated with the entire health system to optimize all aspects of each patient’s health and well-being.

Stilson’s research interests include pediatrics, addiction and obesity.

As a physician assistant, Nichols strives to deliver exceptional care to neurosurgical patients in a team-oriented approach.
