Leaders with UCHealth purchased a 42-unit housing development in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, investing nearly $30 million to provide affordable, long-term housing for health care workers at Yampa Valley Medical Center. This initiative addresses the region’s housing challenges and supports the recruitment and retention of quality staff.

The development offers a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, providing employees with a stable place to live near their workplace. By easing housing burdens, UCHealth aims to strengthen its workforce and ensure continued high-quality care for the Steamboat Springs community.

Lack of affordable housing is a challenge for many communities around the U.S. Finding an affordable place to live is especially difficult for workers in ski resort communities.
