Pueblo, Colo. (May 18, 2017) – Parkview Medical Center proudly announces a new partnership that supports the hospital’s mission to provide the highest quality health care to southern Colorado. Parkview will be participating as an independent hospital within UCHealth Integrated Network, an affiliation for Colorado’s high-performing health care providers to collaborate, innovate and deliver patient care.
Parkview joins over 2,000 providers, including many independent clinics and physician groups across the state who are already partnering with UCHealth and University of Colorado Medicine to combine talents and build on strengths. The organization of providers and health care facilities, which launched in March, aims to improve care coordination among its partners to manage costs and improve the quality of care for patients.
“Joining UCHealth Integrated Network will help better position Parkview to respond to some of the new and emerging challenges in health care today, while continuing our work as a leading health care provider in Southern Colorado,” said Parkview Medical Center President and CEO Mike Baxter, underscoring that Parkview will remain under current ownership and is not being sold. “This new alignment will support our effort to remain a locally governed medical facility, committed to providing exceptional care to our patients.”
Parkview’s financial investment into UCHealth Integrated Network allows the hospital to have an ownership stake and a voice in the network’s design and structure, while remaining the proud community hospital it is today.
This new partnership also provides opportunities for tremendous synergies that will make Pueblo and Southern Colorado a big winner. Parkview Medical Center will be able to better connect Southern Coloradoans to advanced lines of care not currently available in the region, including severe burns and organ transplants.

The network also will help Parkview develop new tools and strategies to prepare for a federal mandate to manage population health.
Parkview will maintain its support of the highly skilled physicians on the medical staff, continuing to provide the great services it does today. Pueblo Health Care will remain in place and will continue to support physicians in managing their practices and their relationships with insurance payers in the region.
While Parkview’s involvement in this effort will not start until 2018, efforts are already underway to put all the pieces together.
