Your appointment

To schedule an appointment for a consultation, please choose a physician from the list on the right.

If your doctor has referred you for surgery or a procedure at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital, your doctor’s office will typically schedule a pre-admission appointment for you. To provide you with the highest quality health care, we require all patients undergoing elective procedures with anesthesia to be screened in our pre-admission clinic. This is to prevent any delays or cancellations on the day of surgery and to identify and to optimize your health prior to your procedure.

Call 720.516.2000 to schedule your pre-admission appointment if your doctor’s office has not done so already.

During this appointment:

  • A registered nurse will review your health history, medication and any other pertinent information related to your upcoming procedure.
  • The nurse will provide education on when to stop eating and drinking, medications, required pre-op showering and specific instructions based on your health history and procedure.

Any lab work or testing may be completed at this appointment.

Surgery FAQs

What are the eating and drinking restrictions prior to surgery?

It is imperative that you follow specific pre-operative food and fluid instructions. Failure to follow these guidelines could result in the cancellation of your surgery. Your surgeon and the pre-admission clinic nurse will give you detailed instructions for your procedure.

What can I expect on the day of my surgery?

On the day of your surgery, come in the main entrance and check in at the information desk. A hospital staff member will escort you to the pre-op area.

  • A nurse will admit you and prepare you for surgery. You will be asked to sign necessary forms. A parent or guardian must sign for a minor (under age 18).

The anesthesiologist will visit with you and answer any questions you have regarding your planned anesthesia. Also, your surgeon will review your planned surgery and answer any questions you have.

How should I prepare on surgery day?
  • Follow the instructions given to you by your surgeon and the pre-admission clinic nurse.
  • Do not bring any valuables or money to the hospital.
  • Your surgery time could be moved ahead. Be prepared to come early if we call you.
  • We do everything we can to avoid delays; however, emergencies do happen and could cause delays in your scheduled operating time.
  • Bring your prescription insurance card. You can pick up your prescriptions at the UCHealth Pharmacy – Highlands Ranch Hospital or inquire about our Meds to Beds program for prescription delivery during your stay.
  • Please be on time to prevent delays.
What about my family?

Your friends and family members may wait in our lobby while you are in surgery. A staff member will let them know when you are in the recovery room and ready for visitors.

We do restrict the number of visitors in the recovery room for your safety and privacy. Please check with your nurse on the day of your procedure.
