The value of volume
At University of Colorado Hospital, we’ve performed thousands of organ transplants over the past several decades. Our high volume of transplant surgery has a direct correlation with our strong outcomes.
Our experts specialize in the following transplant surgeries:
- Kidney (including living kidney donation)
- Liver (including living liver donation)
High patient survival rates
The University of Colorado Hospital’s multi-organ transplant program has some of the highest success rates in the nation. The following charts show our patient survival rates for each of the transplanted organ types.
Source: These survival rates were obtained from data available on US Transplant's Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients, April 2012.
The availability of lifesaving organs for patients awaiting transplant surgery is managed by organ procurement organizations, called OPOs. OPOs match and distribute donated organs, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The OPO in our region is Donor Alliance (DA). DA is responsible for the coordination, retrieval, and distribution of organs in Colorado and Wyoming.
