FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – U.S. News & World Report announced today that Poudre Valley Hospital and Medical Center of the Rockies are the best hospitals in northern Colorado.

In its annual rankings, U.S. News listed PVH in Fort Collins as No. 4 and MCR in Loveland as No. 7 in the state when it comes to treating patients with the most complex medical conditions. These are the top ranked hospitals in the northern Colorado region.

Kevin Unger, president and chief executive officer of MCR and PVH, said the thousands of employees, physicians and volunteers who work at these hospitals don’t come to work each day thinking about rankings, but this honor reflects their dedication to patients. “Our providers and staff are focused on providing extraordinary care to every patient, every day,” he said. “We are proud of the U.S. News & World Report rankings because they echo something I’ve always known – our hospitals and our teams are among the very best.”

In addition, U.S. News recognized PVH as a high performing hospital for heart failure, hip replacement and knee replacement. MCR was recognized as a high performing hospital for heart failure and gastroenterology/gastrointestinal surgery.

PVH and MCR are part of University of Colorado Health (UCHealth), a nonprofit health care system that includes five hospitals and more than 100 clinics throughout Colorado, western Nebraska and southern Wyoming. U.S. News ranks all UCHealth hospitals among the top 10 in Colorado in this year’s rankings. University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), the academic medical center of UCHealth, is ranked No. 1, and Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs is tied at No. 4. University of Colorado Hospital is also ranked among the nation’s best in 11 specialties.

“UCHealth relies on expert providers, research and innovation to ensure our patients receive the best possible medical care. This commitment to quality leads to outcomes that are often far better than national averages,” said Elizabeth Concordia, president and CEO of UCHealth. “These excellent U.S. News rankings reflect our dedication to putting patients first.”

The annual rankings are based on a U.S. News analysis of nearly 5,000 hospitals largely using objective measures such as patient survival and safety data, the adequacy of nurse staffing levels and other data. This was the 26th year that U.S. News ranked hospitals. For the full list of Colorado hospital rankings, go to www.usnews.com/hospitals.
