AURORA, Colo. The University of Colorado Hospital Foundation is proud to announce two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning will be the featured speaker at this year’s breast cancer

fundraiser. The Foundation’s annual event, Men for the Cure, raises funds to help fight breast cancer, assist patients and support the Breast Center at University of Colorado Hospital. To date, the event has raised $2.2 million for the cause.

Peyton Manning is a proud partner of UCHealth, which supports excellent care for patients and innovative research into medical treatments.

This year, funds raised will provide DigniCap® treatments to those who may not be able to afford them.  The newly FDA-approved scalp cooling system can reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss in women with breast cancer, but it is not yet covered by many insurance plans. Funds will also help researchers who are looking into the genetic drivers of cancer tumors, potentially leading to future tests and treatments.

Over the past 16 years, Men for the Cure funds have been used to fund research, purchase medical equipment for the Breast Center such as a biopsy machine, a digital specimen radiography system and a stereotactic biopsy table, and fund screening equipment including 3D mammogram machines and a mobile mammography van called The Pink Life Saver.

“University of Colorado Hospital and the CU Cancer Center are national leaders for the screening and treatment of breast cancer,” said Will Cook, President and CEO of University of Colorado Hospital. “For many years, Men for the Cure has been a significant contributor to this success, leading to innovative treatments, research and some of the best possible outcomes for our brave patients.”

The gentleman-only event is set for September 15 at Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. Tickets to Men for the Cure are selling fast: Purchase Men for the Cure Tickets.

The American Cancer Society estimates 231,840 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in 2015. About 40,290 women will die from breast cancer this year alone.
