Aurora, CO (March 29, 2016) – The University of Colorado Hospital is proud to offer the Summer Teen Volunteer Program to teens between ages 16 to 18 who have an interest in learning about careers in health care.
The teen volunteer program will build leadership, teamwork, communication and customer service skills, as well as gain valuable exposure to the health care environment in a nationally recognized medical center. Teens will volunteer 8 hours each week in a variety of areas including: wayfinding, patient transport, day surgery, radiology, pulmonary and central supply. They will also interact with patients by distributing beverages and treats. In addition, the teens will attend weekly hands-on learning sessions to help them explore different career possibilities within the health care community, including surgery, pharmacy, radiology, repertory, and much more.
The 8-week teen volunteer program will be held from Monday, June 13 through Friday, August 5, 2016. The weekly hands-on learning sessions will be held on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The program is open to students from all local school districts who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.
