A CU Medicine provider.

My philosophy is to:
•support the transformation of individuals in their journey towards optimal health and well-being
•empower others and serve as an advocate in addressing their health care needs; and to •bring the principles of respect, mindfulness, compassion, and a comprehensive holistic perspective to my interactions with others.

I love cooking, gardening, traveling, and being active in lots of ways and outdoors as much as possible! Hiking, cycling, tennis and swimming are some of my favorite activities.

Clinical interest for patients

I am a family physician at the University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine, the Center for Integrative Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. My clinical care, research activities, and community service have focused on the topics of primary care, healthy lifestyles interventions, patient-centered communication, and promotion of equity in health care.

I obtained certification as a Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine. As a Health Fitness Specialist, I am qualified to provide exercise prescription and programming for adults with one or more moderate or high risk chronic diseases. I also received certification in Integrative and Holistic Medicine through the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine. As part of this training, I completed an evidence-based curriculum on the role of nutrition, stress, physical activity, and social & environmental factors on health and disease. I also was introduced to the field of functional medicine and many other holistic and integrative approaches to care.

Volunteer activities

Family Medicine for America’s Health, Refugees Helping Refugees Inc., community cooking demonstrations and interactive presentations to promote healthy food selection, preparation, and dietary choices.
