I believe that every person we are directed to care for should have all their needs heard and treated with dignity, regardless of their race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religious preference or socioeconomic status.

Every patient is worthy of our respect, even when their views differ from our own. Each patient has the right to honesty, to be respected, shown compassion and to feel safe. I view each person as a unique individual who incorporates their heritage, personal wishes, religious and cultural views, educational level, language, upbringing, as well as their physical environment.

The more I know about my patient, the better I can assist and make a positive difference in the care that they receive. That is what patient care is about to me, as I continue on my journey of being a provider to so many individuals. That is what being a family nurse practitioner allows me to achieve—making a difference in the community that I serve.

I always want to ensure that I provide the best patient care, maintain a positive provider-patient relationship while remaining professional and objective to the situation at hand.
