Our approach and supportive options
Providers at the UCHealth Center for Midwifery focus on the natural, healthy aspects of women’s care and work with you to decide what is right for you, including:
Natural childbirth with or without pain medicine such as epidural anesthesia or intravenous pain relief.
Nitrous oxide, also called “laughing gas,” for labor. This colorless, odorless and tasteless gas can decrease pain. We were the first and one of the only hospitals in the region to offer this option.
Complementary healing options through collaboration with other University of Colorado Hospital specialists and partner services, including:
- Prenatal massage
- Herbal therapies
- Doula support services
- Childbirth education
- Lactation consultation
Water births for the experience of calmness and relaxation in a birth pool or tub. We are one of the few facilities in the region to offer water births.
