Loveland internal medicine physician joins UCHealth

Dr. Peter Smith focuses on disease prevention to help people live better lives

LOVELAND, Colo.  – This week, Loveland native Dr. Peter Smith is joining the team at UCHealth. Beginning today, he is caring for patients at the UCHealth Internal Medicine clinic in the north medical office building at 2500 Rocky Mountain Ave. in Loveland, just north of Medical Center of the Rockies.

Dr. Smith is board certified in internal medicine and has been practicing medicine in the Loveland area for the past 15 years. In recent years, he has been caring for patients through Banner Health Medical Group.

He said he likes using the scientific understanding of human biology to help people live better lives. He is particularly interested in disease prevention, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and cancer screenings.

He is an alumnus of Thompson Valley High School who earned a medical degree from the University of Colorado. In 1999, he completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.

In 2012, Dr. Smith also served as the president of the Larimer County Medical Society.

The growing team at UCHealth Internal Medicine clinic now includes six physicians and a physician assistant who focus on patient-centered care to prevent, treat and manage complex diseases and disorders to keep patients healthy. The clinic location also provides convenient, one-stop access to a large network of specialists and on-site diagnostic services such as laboratory, X-ray and MRI.
