I believe that my work as a physician is two-fold. On one hand, my job is of course to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease using the most up-to-date and effective scientific data. On the other hand, my job is to talk to people suffering from or worried about heart and blood vessel disease and to present my patients – who honor me with their trust – with information that is meaningful to them, helping them gain an understanding of what is going on and what their options are for treatment. All of this must be done in a way that each person can understand, and helps each individual make the best possible informed decision in their particular circumstance. I adhere to the original meaning of doctor that can best be translated in Latin as ‘teacher.’ My obligation and privilege as a physician is not just to find the right medicine or surgery. Just as importantly, it is to make sure that each patient leaves my office understanding what their heart problems are and how we can help.

I am the proud father of a little boy and a little girl, and being a dad is the best part of my life. I am also a long-time fan of the outdoors and love the hiking trails and snowshoeing we have here in Colorado. I’ve also found here that taking my Jeep out into the far reaches of where the paved road stops can be pretty magical in the Front Range.
