“Stroke is typically seen as a very male specific disease and women don’t really think of themselves as having a stroke most of the time and they don’t want to bother people so they don’t come to the hospital,” said Dr. Amita Singh, with Memorial Hospital. Dr. Singh says even if you’re not sure, call your doctor or go to the ER because if you are having a stroke, you could be losing precious time.
