Longmont Clinic and 60+ Providers Agree to Join UCHealth

Agreement bolsters health care options for residents in Longmont and in Boulder county.
Oct. 27, 2014

Aurora, Colo. – UCHealth is excited to welcome the Longmont Clinic, its patients and its group of almost 280 providers and staff into the UCHealth family. Bringing these organizations together will provide even greater resources for patients in Boulder County.

The Longmont Clinic sees about 200,000 patient visits each year and offers care from physicians and advanced practice providers in about 20 different specialties.

“We’ve enjoyed a very close relationship with Medical Center of the Rockies and UCHealth for many years,” said Longmont Clinic CEO Jack Campbell. “Joining UCHealth now gives our patients access to even more health care options from this regional health care leader while ensuring that our providers will be able to continue caring for the patients and the community we love.”

UCHealth’s system of five hospitals and scores of clinics offers specialists, sub-specialists, clinical trials and advanced surgeries that might be unavailable elsewhere in the Rocky Mountain Region.

“Longmont Clinic is an ideal partner for us,” said UCHealth President and CEO Elizabeth Concordia. “UCHealth is an integrated health care system that brings the entire spectrum of options to patients, and the high quality providers and staff at Longmont Clinic have a rich history of providing excellent care in their local community. This partnership draws on these strengths to provide the very best care for patients.”

A pioneering clinic

The Longmont Clinic was one of the first medical clinics of its kind in Colorado, opening its doors in 1906 when a group of physicians began caring for residents of Longmont and the St. Vrain Valley. Providers will continue that proud tradition now as part of the UCHealth system of hospitals and clinics in Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska.

“I want to assure our patients we’re not going anywhere,” said Longmont Clinic Cardiologist John Stathis, MD. “We’re proud of our history of more than a century of service to Longmont, and joining forces with University of Colorado Health opens new doors for our patients — and ensures that we’ll be able to provide them with expanded treatment options and an unsurpassed level of care for many more years to come.”

Longmont Clinic physicians voted overwhelmingly to join UCHealth and sign a letter of intent at their board meeting on October 27.

Physicians and advanced care nurses will become Colorado Health Medical Group (CHMG) employees at the end of the year, and staff members will be employed by UCHealth, eligible for all the benefits that UCHealth’s almost 15,000 employees now enjoy.
