CU hospital helps woman breathe easier with new set of lungs

Lisa Messina now has "a permanent smile all the time"

Lisa Messina, a young mother of two, is taking deep breaths with a new set of lungs after receiving a lifesaving transplant at University of Colorado Hospital. Lisa, suffering from cystic fibrosis, was taken off oxygen just two weeks after the procedure. “I have a permanent smile all the time,” Messina said. “It was just a matter of time before her lungs would give out,” said UCH pulmonologist Dr. Denny Lyu.
