Dr. Amira Bakkar, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician with UCHealth who is dedicated to providing thoughtful, comprehensive and patient-centered care. She believes that strong physician–patient relationships are the foundation of effective healthcare and strives to create a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected and actively involved in decisions about their health.

Dr. Bakkar earned her medical degree in 2012 and completed her residency at UCHealth Parkview Medical Center. During her training, she developed a strong focus on continuity of care, clear communication, and collaborative care planning—particularly during patient handoffs and transitions between care settings. These experiences shaped her commitment to safe, coordinated care and long-term partnerships with her patients.

Her philosophy of care centers on listening carefully to patients, understanding their individual goals and concerns, and developing personalized care plans that address both prevention and chronic disease management. Dr. Bakkar’s clinical interests include preventive health and women’s health, as well as evidence-based management of both acute and chronic medical conditions. She provides care for type 1 and type 2 diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, peripheral artery disease, obesity, depression, anxiety, other psychiatric conditions, insomnia, and thyroid disorders including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancers. Her preventive services include colon cancer screening, lung cancer screening, prostate cancer screening, breast cancer screening and cervical cancer screening.

Her scope of internal medicine also includes management of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lipid disorders, anemia, kidney disease, liver disease, musculoskeletal issues and other common adult health concerns. She cares for patients with acute conditions such as upper respiratory infections, ear infections, urinary tract infections, gastroenteritis, respiratory infections, and gastrointestinal infections, sexually transmitted infections and other infections. Dr. Bakkar values teamwork and collaborates closely with multidisciplinary specialists to ensure patients receive safe, coordinated, and personalized care.
