Infant/toddler
- Absence of listening to speech and making cooing sounds by 3 months.
- Absence of babbling (tatata, bababa, etc.) and attending to environmental sounds.
- Absence of words by 18 months.
- Absence of two-word phrases that have a message by 2 years.
- Undeveloped play skills.
Elementary & older
- Unclear speech.
- Word-finding problems.
- Stuttering.
- Poor understanding of concepts.
- Difficulty following directions; may require frequent repetitions.
- Difficulty naming, describing, relating events and retelling stories.
