Our occupational therapists at UCHealth SportsMed are nationally recognized as leaders in education.  Our team includes orthopedic board-certified hand specialists that communicate closely with your physician to provide individual and specialized care. Our compassionate team of occupational therapists uses their expertise to diagnosis and treat impairments with custom splinting, cold laser, fluidotherapy and exercise, returning you to work and play.

Our speech therapists are highly respected in the community for the quality and compassionate care they provide to all patients.  The team works closely with occupational and physical therapists to increase each patient’s independence with daily activities. Treatments work to restore verbal and non-verbal communication, using techniques that improve memory, information processing, and reasoning.  They diagnose and treat dysphagia, problems with swallowing, and work extensively with patients that have had a stroke. Our team is involved with the community, developing and leading classes that bring treatment into real-life situations.  Our speech team works on multiple levels of communication to help our patients achieve as much independence as possible.

SportsMed provides rehabilitation patients with this tool to help them get back on their feet sooner and push themselves further. The Treadmill allows patients to walk or run, while experiencing only a percentage of their body weight. The technique allows for less pain and faster recoveries.

A 5-step Return to Play protocol was put in place by the Colorado Senate and approved by the state legislature, which SportsMed and local physicians follow. Education for the injured athlete and parents is provided at the time of injury.
