If your burn injury requires additional assessment by a burn specialist, a consultation will be made to the Region’s top outpatient burn center at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora.
A referral may be made to our Burn Clinic or if hospital admission is necessary, arrangements will be made for a seamless transfer of care to our burn center.

We have been Colorado’s premier burn center since 1976 and Verified by the American Burn Association as a center of excellence since 1998.
This designation highlights the care of our multidisciplinary burn team to achieve optimal patient outcomes for return to both physical and psychological health.

- Pediatric burns—12 and under or 40 kg and under go to Children’s Hospital
- Burns with associated trauma
- Burns accompanied by pre-existing medical conditions
- Burns with special social, emotional, or rehabilitation needs

At the UCH Burn Center, you have access to a team of specialists from different areas who work together to treat your unique needs.
Teams are made up of surgeons, registered nurses, burn technicians, psychiatrists, and pharmacists. Additional staff members include social workers, caseworkers, nutritionists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. These professionals combine their expertise to maximize your recovery and your quality of life.
