Genetic counseling

The Hereditary Cancer Clinic can assist patients by providing a variety of genetic services such as genetic counseling, family history analysis, and genetic testing.

Oncology rehabilitation

Comprehensive oncology rehabilitation delivered by occupational, physical and speech therapists helps address and/or prevent symptoms that affect daily life, such as muscle/ joint pain, swelling (lymphedema), weakness, balance, fatigue, bowel/ bladder problems, memory problems, and sexual dysfunction and/or pelvic pain in women.

Lymphedema screening and detection

Lymphedema is an accumulation of fluid in the breast or arm following treatment. Normally this fluid is carried away by the lymphatic system, but damage to that system causes fluid build up. Unless detected and treated, this fluid causes permanent damage to the area.

Early detection with SOZO® technology

L-Dex® is a measurement of fluid buildup in a patient’s at-risk limb, using a healthy limb for comparison. Our SOZO device uses noninvasive bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS), which can detect very small fluid level changes.

We encourage our patients to undergo SOZO® bio-impedance testing to measure baseline fluid levels in the body. We then repeat these measurements regularly after breast cancer treatment to detect changes in fluid levels.

SOZO® with L-Dex® helps us to identify at-risk patients early. If a patient begins to show early signs of lymphedema, we have an entire team of specialists to help stop further progression of this disease.

Imaging services

3D mammography

3D mammography using Hologic Genius 3D Breast Tomosynthesis technology is our standard of care. This state-of-the-art technology uses multiple low-dose images at multiple angles that produce a series of one-millimeter slices to create a 3D reconstruction of the breast. It provides increased visualization for the detection of breast cancer and greatly reduces the need for additional imaging.

3D mammography offers many advantages to traditional mammograms including:

  • 40% increase in early detection of invasive breast cancers; 35% increase in all other breast cancer detection.
  • 40% decrease in false-positives, reducing unnecessary call backs.

All radiologists are fellowship trained, board certified and are solely dedicated to breast imaging. Our Breast Imaging Center is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology and the FDA.

Patients can schedule mammograms through the UCHealth app or My Health Connection (MHC), our patient portal.

Visit this page to log in to MHC, create an MHC account, or get the UCHealth app to schedule your appointment online.
