Improve your heart health after a cardiac event
The heart help you need
After an event such as a heart attack, heart surgery or angioplasty—you need to rebuild the strength of that muscle and improve your cardiovascular health. Participating in a cardiac rehabilitation program helps you get there.
Our cardiac rehabilitation program is supervised by a team of medical experts including a cardiologist, registered nurse, exercise physiologist, and certified cardiovascular technicians. Once you begin the program, we monitor your progress and share the results with your primary care provider.
A personalized cardiac rehab plan
Cardiac rehabilitation involves guidance and lifestyle changes to help you live to your fullest potential. You’ll work with our cardiac rehab team to create the right plan for you, which will include:
- Staff-monitored exercise sessions tailored to you and designed to improve your endurance, strength, heart function and circulation.
- Thorough instruction on how to exercise safely and confidently.
- Education on how to make lifestyle changes that will lower the risk of future heart conditions.
- A positive and motivating environment for exercise and education classes.
- Accreditation through the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
You’ll work with our doctors, nurses and specialists—plus your family and friends—to take control of the choices, lifestyle and habits that affect your heart.
Three cardiac rehabilitation program phases
Our rehabilitation program has three phases: inpatient, outpatient and maintenance.
Phase I is considered the introductory phase of the program. It includes a medical and exercise assessment, and limited activity such as walking up and down the hall.
Ideally, you begin phase II of cardiac rehabilitation within two weeks of leaving the hospital. This phase lasts up to 12 weeks, and includes group exercise and education classes. During phase II, cardiac rehab staff members monitor your heart rhythm and blood pressure to ensure your safety. When appropriate, staff members increase your exercise intensity to build stamina, endurance and to provide an ongoing challenge.
This is a wellness and maintenance program. Phase III is comprised of participants from phase II, but is open to people with current or past heart conditions who prefer an exercise program monitored by medical experts.
A heart event doesn’t have to hold you back. We help you rehabilitate your heart so you can embark on a healthy future.
