A CU Medicine provider.
I am committed to providing compassionate and comprehensive care that respects each patient’s unique story and needs. I aim to listen carefully and collaborate with patients and families in every decision. I believe that understanding a person’s background, culture, language, and life context is essential for safe and effective care. By blending evidence-based practice with empathy and clear communication, I work to create an environment where patients feel heard, supported, and empowered.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring the Colorado mountains through hiking and trail running, capturing landscapes with my family. I find joy in experimenting with global cuisines in my kitchen and sharing meals with friends and family. I love traveling to new places to learn about different cultures and deepen my understanding of the world.

- Clinical interest for patients
-
My clinical interests include advanced airway management and procedural skills in the emergency department, complex care coordination for patients with limited English proficiency, quality improvement initiatives to promote equity in acute care, simulation-based training for teamwork, cultural competence and interpreter use, as well as disaster response and mass casualty preparedness. I enjoy collaborating across disciplines to develop innovative solutions that improve patient safety outcomes and enhance the overall patient experience.
- Research interest for patients
-
My research focuses on optimizing emergency department discharge communication and patient safety for individuals with limited English proficiency by integrating mixed-methods inquiry, implementation science frameworks, and technology-enhanced interventions. I investigate barriers and facilitators to language-concordant care, assessing how discordance affects comprehension, adherence, and readmission rates. I develop and pilot innovative solutions such as audio-recorded visit summaries, real-time interpreter integration, and structured communication protocols adapted through the ADAPT-ITT and RE-AIM frameworks. Through sequential exploratory studies and quality improvement projects, I aim to create scalable, equity-driven models that enhance health outcomes, reduce disparities, and inform policy for diverse patient populations.
- Volunteer activities
I have dedicated over a decade to volunteer leadership across international, state, university, and departmental levels, promoting public health, diversity, and student empowerment. Early in my career, I served as Student Director and Board Member of the Colorado Public Health Association before leading global health trips in Ecuador with Walking Palms and chairing Community Health Worker Training in Iquitos under the Peruvian Ministry of Health. I represented future clinicians as a Medical Student Ambassador for the American Academy of Emergency Physicians in Baltimore, guiding key searches on campus from Latino Student Services to university and medical school leadership, and participating in multiple search committees at the University of Colorado Denver and Anschutz Medical Campus. As a student, I co-founded and led associations for public health, United Mexican American students, DREAMers, and alumni relations, and later shaped student governance as a senator and vice president of the legislative committee. Most recently, I co-chaired the Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Denver Health, where I worked to embed inclusive practices in clinical education and community engagement.
