Dr. Njiaju joined University of Colorado Health (UCHealth) Hematology and Oncology in Colorado Springs in 2013. She graduated with honors and as valedictorian of her class at the University of Zimbabwe School of Medicine and Public Health.
While a medical student, she won a scholarship from, and spent time at, the University of Birmingham School of Medicine in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Dr. Njiaju completed her internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital. She completed her fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Chicago. She is board-certified in internal medicine and medical oncology.
Although broadly trained in hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Njiaju is particularly interested in the treatment of breast and gynecologic cancers. She strongly believes in evidence-based medicine, and in shared decision making between physician and patient in formulating management plans. She is involved in clinical trials, thereby working with other oncologists to improve outcomes for patients affected by cancer. In her career to date, she has published papers in research areas ranging from pharmacogenomics to new drug/regimen development in breast cancer. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and was elected a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2012.
Prior to joining UCHealth, Dr. Njiaju was an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of medical oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. There, she was involved in patient care, teaching and clinical research.
In her free time, Dr. Njiaju enjoys spending time with her family, reading non-fiction and historical books, running, cooking and entertaining.
