My philosophy of care as a cardiac surgery physician assistant is built on a family-oriented approach. Navigating heart surgery and critical illness is often one of the most vulnerable moments not only in a person’s life, but also everyone connected to the patient. I view it as my highest privilege to guide patients and their families through this intense journey. Often times the most satisfying part of my job is bridging the technical, complicated aspects of the procedures to the patient and their families with understandable explanations that are geared to comfort and reassure them on their journey. It is this human connection, I believe, that is critical to the path of recovery. I also strive to ensure close collaboration between surgery and medicine to promote clear communication, technical excellence and hospital-wide support to promote a positive outcome for the patient.

When I’m not working I like to be active by skiing with my family at Keystone, exercising in my home gym and exploring Colorado hiking.
