My goal is to build a partnership with patients to create a care plan that addresses your diagnosis while also considering your goals and the impacts of your health on overall quality of life. Shared decision-making is an important aspect of my care, with a purpose to ensure that patients are fully informed and actively involved in choosing the best path forward. By integrating the latest research, clinical guidelines and multidisciplinary discussions, I strive to provide high-value care that maximizes outcomes while minimizing unnecessary interventions.

Through my upbringing in the Scouting program (Sea Scouts/Venturing) I developed a love for the great outdoors. After completing my residency training in Salt Lake City, I knew I was interested in returning to the Mountain West after my Urologic Oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. My family and I are excited to set down roots and begin contributing to and exploring the Colorado Springs and surrounding communities.

Clinical interest for patients

I find joy in providing the full spectrum of urology to patients. I additionally have specialty training in treatment of urologic cancers (prostate, kidney, bladder, upper tract urothelial [ureter and renal pelvis], urethra, penile, testes and adrenal). If I cannot provide the answer for your problem my goal is to set you in the right direction to find out who can. Lastly, I am excited for the opportunity to help patients participate in clinical trials, which can provide options for diseases that have minimal or less-than-ideal treatments and can focus on improving healthcare delivery or patient quality of life.

Research interest for patients

Much of my previous research has been focused on enhancing the quality and value of urologic health care we provide. I have most enjoyed my work focusing on optimizing clinical practices and patient outcomes. I have worked on several projects improving practices surrounding prostate cancer care, like PSA screening, imaging at time of diagnosis and reasonably decreasing opioid use after robotic prostatectomy. I have also worked on understanding the quality of life in cancer patients and how that can be improved. I intend to continue research in healthcare delivery and quality of life as it is important to continually find ways to improve our health care and it provides me insights on how to improve the care I'm providing for my patients.
