I believe that health and medical care should be approachable. This includes doctors that are available, engaged and understanding; a health care system that places a priority on helping you to help yourself; and a medical team that gives good care. Translating up to date science and research into a language that everyone from patients to medical staff and referring physicians can understand and participate with in a meaningful fashion should always be the goal. I am a believer in life-long scholarship and learning, and I believe that experts and teachers need to maintain a strong discipline as students first.
I have been married for over 30 years to my wife Shaun, and we have raised four children. We like to garden, keep chickens and a variety of other animals, and I maintain an apiary so that our bees can keep our trees and garden fruitful. I enjoy tabletop gaming, and I am a wine enthusiast and maintain a working knowledge of local breweries. I was raised in Fort Collins and was a Lambkin at Fort Collins High School. I returned after 10 years in the US Army in 2001 to finish raising my children here and to be near family. I am an outdoors enthusiast and have hunted and fished the Rocky Mountains since my earliest childhood memories.
