I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) for 15 years. I have worked in community mental health, integrated care, inpatient psychiatric facilities, inpatient substance abuse facilities, provided treatment in jail and prison settings, experience as a tele-health provider, engaged in case management, and taught in the college/university settings. I strive to be a well-rounded clinician, who is focused on cultural competence and engaging with diverse clientele. My out-of-the-box thinking provides patients with new insights that assist in their growth and progress. In session patients will experience a caring presence, be heard, valued, feel empathy, be healthily challenged, get a sense of ease with humor, and a realization that solutions are achievable and perhaps greater than the perceived issue/concern. Patients will be able to process and seek potential solutions and beneficial outcomes to their identified concerns. Patient’s concerns will be addressed through varying modalities: active listening, inquisitive curiosity, seeking clarification and deeper meaning (verbal), use of visual feedback (dry erase board), and action assignments (coping skills, resources, handouts: (tactile). I utilize various (holistic) evidence-based theoretical orientations/modalities: Person-Centered, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT).
