As an internist, when I see a patient, the first thing I do is make sure their preventive care is up to date. This is the most effective way to reduce patient morbidity and mortality. I believe in getting mammograms, colonoscopies, pap smears and vaccinations in a timely manner. Also a proper diet, good sleep habits and moderate exercise for 150 minutes a week can prevent a lot of unnecessary ills and doctor’s visits. In addition to history taking and physical exams, a lot of what I do involves reviewing lab results and test reports, sometimes going back years. While most diagnoses are apparent from history, physical exam and test results, there can be diagnostic dilemmas which take longer to figure out. Whatever the treatment though, patient participation is a must. This always leads to better health outcomes. Finally, my goal is to treat the patient, not just the disease, while keeping in mind the newest research and the most updated guidelines. I wish you the best of health.

I graduated from medical school in 1990 and moved to the US in 1992. I have practiced in Nevada, Washington state and most recently Wyoming, where we have lived for the past 15 years. I am married to Dr. Farrukh Javaid, an internist, who will also be working at the Printers Park Clinic. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Additionally, I enjoy reading and it is one of the greatest joys of my life.
