Dr. Ronald Hollis is an experienced orthopedic sports medicine and shoulder specialist based at UCHealth Orthopedics in Colorado Springs, CO. He specializes in Sports Medicine and Shoulder replacement surgery, where he cares for patients by performing Shoulder and upper arm fracture, Rotator cuff repair, Shoulder replacement, as well as reverse shoulder replacement surgery. In addition, he performs ACL surgery, knee arthroscopy, and knee replacement surgery,

As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Hollis cares for patients aged fifteen and older, from weekend warriors to professional competitors. He is well known in the community for his collaborative and team-based approach to care, emphasizing shared decision-making.

He believes a common misconception is that a trip to an orthopedic surgeon will result in surgery as the only treatment option. More often, surgery is not required. Often, injuries are treated with non-operative methods such as anti-inflammatory medicines, occasional cortisone injections, and physical therapy. When patients do not find relief with conservative treatment, it may need further imaging studies, like an MRI, to evaluate the extent of the injury. At times, surgery is required, but that is only after we have exhausted all non-surgical treatment options.

Dr. Hollis started his pathway to being an orthopedic surgery by way of professional baseball. He was a relief pitcher, Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 37th round of the 1991 MLB June Amateur Draft from Brighton HS (Brighton, MI) and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 10th round of the 1994 MLB June Amateur Draft from University of Michigan. This experience enhanced his acuity towards shoulder injuries and stimulated his desire to help people continue to live the active lifestyle they desire.
