Clinical interest for patients

My clinical interests are in general thoracic surgery including benign and malignant diseases of the lung (e.g. lung cancer managed with surgery - segmentectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, mediastinoscopy and bronchoscopy, pulmonary fibrosis diagnosed with VATS lung biopsy), esophagus (e.g. reflux managed with laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication, stricture or achalasia managed with laparoscopic Heller myotomy, esophageal cancer managed with esophagectomy or minimally invasive esophagectomy - MIE) and mediastinum (e.g. thymoma, thymic cancer, thymic cysts, myasthenia gravis, pericardial cysts managed with VATS thymectomy), chest wall tumors (e.g. chondrosarcoma, chondroma, metastasis to the rib cage or sternum), deformities (e.g. pectus excavatum, pectus carinatum, Poland syndrome, rib fractures) and chest wall reconstruction, surgery for end-stage lung disease (COPD), benign and malignant airway and tracheal disease (e.g. tracheal tumors, tracheal strictures, tracheomalacia), surgery for hyperhidrosis and minimally invasive thoracic procedures (VATS), such as VATS lobectomy, VATS lung biopsy, VATS segmentectomy, VATS thymectomy, VATS splanchnicectomy for chronic pancreatitis, VATS sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis (uncontrolled sweating) and minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE).

Research interest for patients

My research interests include surgical clinical outcomes in thoracic oncology and lung transplantation, nutrition and metabolism, and identifying processes of care which lead to improved outcomes for surgical patients in order to improve patient care and shape health care policy.
