I completed my doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Denver in 2012, and prior to joining the team at UCHealth, have provided treatment in a number of settings including university counseling centers, community mental health centers, outpatient hospital clinics, and an independent health psychology practice. I enjoyed the opportunity to teach at the university level and have co-authored national behavioral health treatment guidelines that help ensure patients receive the best care possible.
As a health psychologist, I am honored to have the opportunity to work with people who have goals for improving their overall health and wellness, recovering from an illness, or coping with a chronic medical condition. Stress and anxiety, depression, grief and loss, PTSD, as well as burnout and sleep difficulties are concerns reported by many of the people I treat. I am certified in biofeedback interventions targeting stress and pain management.
I am excited to be part of the behavioral health team at UCHealth—both my professional training and personal experience highlight the importance of treating the whole person, viewing wellness from a mind and body perspective. I often integrate approaches such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) into my sessions, working with patients to emphasize and build on their existing strengths, to expand their skills and knowledge of their health and practices that support it, and to increase their agency in creating well-being and quality of life. I believe deeply that there is opportunity for growth in the face of adversity and am grateful to be a part of people’s healing—mind, body, and spirit. I truly love what I do.
When I am away from the office, I love spending time in my garden, fly fishing in the beautiful Colorado mountains, traveling to new places, camping with my family, as well as creative hobbies like photography and pottery. Running and riding my road bike are some of my favorite ways to enjoy the lovely Colorado climate and yoga is a big part of my personal wellness routine.
