I value relationship with my patients and a team approach to their care. I believe in the power of story, and every patient has one that is unique to their situation and current station in life. I believe in treating the whole patient, not just their disease, symptoms or pathology. I believe in the innate ability of the body to heal, or greatly aid in healing itself, given proper nutrition, exercise and stress management.

My wife and I both grew up in Colorado and love the outdoors. We enjoy getting our children outside to explore our beautiful state. I love music and have played guitar since my teenage years.

Clinical interest for patients

In addition to my traditional interventional spine and orthopedic work, I have a special passion for regenerative medicine. I have been involved in regenerative orthopedics and spine work since 2011. I have had the privilege of treating many current and retired athletes from the NFL, NHL, MLB, and MMA, using bone marrow, adipose graft, and platelet rich plasma (PRP) for degenerative spine and joint disease. I have been on faculty at TOBI (The Orthobiologics Institute) and Boston Biolife, teaching technique for safely harvesting bone marrow for regenerative medicine procedures.

Research interest for patients

– I was involved in one of the first published studies on the injection of bone marrow concentrate in the lumbar spinal discs for degenerative disc disease and chronic low back pain.
– I have presented research on the use of bone marrow concentrate for spinal disease at the International Society for Stem Cell Research/Harvard Stem Cell Institute.
– I have presented data on the use of placental tissue allograft for lumbar degenerative disc disease at Yale University School of Medicine.
– I am currently co-investigator of an IRB approved knee arthritis study assessing the use of low power laser for cartilage reconstruction along with injection of bone marrow aspirate.
– I am studying the effects of combining high density adipose (fat) graft with bone marrow aspirate in retired NFL players with knee osteoarthritis.
