Mary Jo Byron received her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Gannon University in Erie, PA. She then pursued a graduate degree in Biochemistry at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA where she was able to perform small animal surgery in order to obtain samples for her graduate research project. It was at that time that she became interested in pursuing a surgical degree. Mary Jo completed her master’s degree and went on to receive a PA degree in Surgical Physician Assistant studies from Cornell University Medical College in New York, NY. She has 17 years of Cardiothoracic Surgery experience. Mary Jo likes to spend her free time being outdoors/hiking and traveling with her family
