I am excited to be a part of a team that provides excellent care to our trauma and acute care surgery patients. I pride myself in connecting with patients and their families and partnering with them in a way that allows them to make informed decisions about their health care.
I started my health care career as a registered nurse in mother-baby and subsequently went to the emergency department. I stayed there for nine years and also pursued my master’s degree—finishing in 2007. As a nurse practitioner, I have worked in urgent care, trauma and acute care surgery, the emergency department, hospitalist medicine and home care. I have been blessed to have had many opportunities within a variety of health care settings. These various opportunities have afforded me the ability to understand health care from many different viewpoints and to see the continuum from the patient’s perspective. I believe this experience allows me to better guide patients and their families through their experience in a way that they feel supported, heard and understood.
My father was in the United States Air Force, and I was born in Michigan subsequently moving to Ohio, two places in California and lastly, we moved here to Colorado when I was going into the 8th grade. Colorado has been my home since then, and I feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful state. I have seven children and four grandchildren and counting. Big family gatherings are among some of my most-loved activities. Home improvement projects, baking, hiking and getting together with friends around our firepit are among a few of my favorite things. Nothing is more important than family, friends and faith.
