Clinical interest for patients

Heart valve surgery with expertise in mitral valve repair and aortic valve pathology, Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD), coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, and heart and lung transplantation. I am the surgical director of our VAD program and the surgical director of our heart transplant program.

Research interest for patients

I'm interested in the effects of aging on heart surgery. My research also includes the evaluation of left ventricular assist devices as a bridge to heart transplantation and also for the treatment of advanced heart failure.

Volunteer activities

I serve on numerous national committees through the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. The committees seek to improve the quality of care to cardiac surgery patients.

I provide “shadowing” opportunities for high school and college pre-med students.
