As a nurse practitioner in primary care, my role is to impact the quality of health of individuals through listening and educating. I believe healthcare is a choice; a choice in provider, approach, style, to engage, or not to engage. The most important provider in a patient’s life is the one they need at the moment, which is most often the primary care provider. Throughout my career I have been able to help people, through positive approaches, make choices to improve and maintain their quality of life with attentive preventative care and chronic disease management. I am energized to return to my passion of primary care in my community. I bring over 30 years of progressive skill and diverse background with a sincere commitment towards achieving positive patient outcomes.

I am excited to be returning my professional career to my chosen home of Teller County, Colorado. As a military family, it is not often that you can choose to raise your family from elementary through college in one place. We have been blessed to remain in the only location our children call home. Growing up in a small midwestern rural community, I learned a lot about self-reliance and getting the job done with the resources available. I started early in healthcare as a nurse aide at the local nursing home while attending high school. I truly started from the bottom up. I completed my initial degree in nursing from Purdue University in 1992 and married my high school love of my life the same year. We have traveled the world following his military career, raising a family and utilizing the portability of my career in healthcare. Back to my midwestern roots, I pursued my Family Practice Nurse Practitioner Master’s with Indiana State University, completing it in 2010. As a nurse practitioner, I started my career in Colorado Springs, quickly relocating to Teller County. After more than five years of primary care, I fulfilled a dream of working in specialty care. I worked in neurosurgery for two years in Colorado Springs in clinic, hospital and operating room first assist roles. A call with opportunity to travel ended my specialty care career. I provided primary, urgent and emergent care in remote Alaska covering a 100,000 square mile catchment area. I then provided inpatient, outpatient and emergent care in rural Montana followed by an emergency intake pediatric shelter assignment in California.
