Clinical interest for patients

I am interested in the full-spectrum of systemic autoimmune disease and participate in our clinic’s dedicated Scleroderma and Lupus Clinics.

Research interest for patients

My primary research is focused on determining what factors are involved in the persistence of joint inflammation that ultimately may lead to the development of rheumatoid arthritis. By understanding this process more clearly we may be able to identify those individuals with the highest risk of progression, and offer earlier therapuetic intervention. I am also involved in scleroderma-related research through an observational study of patients with scleroderma and early pulmonary hypertension, as well as an interventional trial for digital ulcers.

Volunteer activities

I have been involved in volunteer work through an annual community-wide arthritis screening program, sponsored by a non-profit organization. This effort has been spurred by our Division’s interest in the development of early arthritis and goal of intervening early in the disease process. I also work closely with the Scleroderma Foundation, participating in their Annual Walk as well as educational presentations to patients.
