Dr. Ingrid Sharon, the most experienced breast surgeon in our community, is known for her surgical skill and compassionate care. More than 90 percent of her operations are for breast cancer. She employs oncoplastic techniques to achieve the best cosmetic outcomes in operations ranging from breast conservation to nipple sparing mastectomies.

Ten percent of her surgeries deal with premalignant and benign breast disease. She graduated from Oral Roberts University School of Medicine. During her surgical residency she received the Herbert A. Schulte Award of Excellence in Surgery. Prior to working in Colorado Springs, Dr. Sharon helped pioneer a surgical program in Belize and worked as a medical missionary in India, Malaysia, Thailand, Burma and the Philippines.

Recognition

In 1995 she was Regional Director founding the American Society of Breast Surgeons, an organization today of many thousand. Since 2008, she has annually received the Patient’s Choice Award, which is given only to the top 5% of nations doctors. In past years, she was named by the Consumers Research Council of America as being among America’s Top Surgeons, and has been selected in the past as a Top Oncologist by the International Association of Oncologists. She has been voted a top Doc in Colorado Springs. She has been recognized by her peers for the Castle Connolly 2017 Exceptional Women in Medicine Award. She graduated from Oral Roberts University School of Medicine. During her surgical residency she received the Herbert A. Schulte Award of Excellence in Surgery. Dr. Ingrid Sharon is a founding regional director of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and since 2008, she has been honored annually with the Patient’s Choice Award, given to the top 5 percent of the nation’s doctors. Dr. Sharon also was named as a Top Oncologist in 2011 by the International Association of Oncologists and has been recognized several times as a Top Doc in Colorado Springs. Each of Dr. Sharon’s patients is assigned a nurse navigator – a team member that helps a patient from the day of diagnosis to survivorship. She also facilitates consultations with medical and radiation oncologists, reconstructive surgeons, genetic counselors, nutritionists and physical therapists. She also is an investigator in numerous national clinical trials for breast cancer treatment, and these approaches are available to her patients. More than 90 percent of Dr. Sharon’s surgical procedures are for breast cancer. She employs oncoplastic approaches with hidden scar techniques to achieve the best possible cosmetic outcomes. When not working, Dr. Sharon enjoys sailing – she has received her “skipper” certification – along with quilting, cooking and traveling. She also has served as a surgical missionary in Myanmar, India, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia.

When not working, Dr. Sharon enjoys hand and machine quilting, card making, and cooking. She has also obtained her “Skipper” certification in sailing. She has a very grateful heart, attributing any success she has to Jesus first and foremost; her colleagues providing brilliant care to their mutual patients; and her parents who encouraged her to do her homework growing up.
