A CU Medicine provider.

Each patient and his or her condition is unique and I strive to ensure that the evaluation and treatment process is both engaging and educational for patients and their families. I am fortunate to be able to collaborate with colleagues from many disciplines – including orthopaedic surgery, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, oncology, pain management, hand / occupational / physical therapy – to provide the most comprehensive care possible for our patients.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three daughters – pursuing activities such as golf, tennis, biking, sailing and skiing. I am excited to go to work each day as a rest from keeping up with my family!

Clinical interest for patients

I enjoy the diversity of hand surgery, managing conditions from the elbow to the fingertips. I have particular interests in brachial plexus and peripheral nerve repair and reconstruction, targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR), compression neuropathies, tendon injuries, Dupuytren’s contracture, and hand & wrist injuries. I have an extensive background caring for athletes at all levels, including youth and college teams, professional athletes, athletes at two Olympic Games and the weekend warrior.

Research interest for patients

My research interests reflect the challenges of his diverse specialty. I have been involved in developing advanced programs for training our next generation of leaders in orthopaedic and hand surgery and I am interested in research related to this educational process. I have experience and ongoing interests in clinical and basic scientific research in nerve repair and regeneration, tendon repair and reconstruction, wrist injuries, compartment syndrome and upper extremity anatomy.

Volunteer activities

Since 2014 I have served as the team leader for Touching Hands (American Society for Surgery of the Hand) in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, coordinating outreach trips to the Ruth Paz Hospital twice each year. Also, I have been fortunate to have been a site physician for two Olympic Games: Athens, 2004 (Men's Basketball) and Vancouver, 2010 (Men's Ice Hockey).
