I believe in patient-centered care. I think it’s essential there is collaboration between the providers and the patient and their families. Information needs to be transparent. Discussions should be done respectfully, keeping in mind varying values for each individual person. Comprehensive plans and clinical decisions should also intake into account not only the physical health but also emotional, mental, spiritual, social and financial perspectives as well.
