Dr. David Steinbruner is chief medical officer for UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central and Memorial Hospital North. Steinbruner joined Memorial Hospital in 2008 and served as associate CMO and chief of staff. As an emergency medicine physician, he was active in the development of Memorial Central’s Level I Trauma Center. Steinbruner is a passionate advocate of EMS and education, acting as both deputy medical director and co-medical director for the Colorado Springs Fire Department and medical director for several regional EMS agencies. He was a member of the State Emergency Medicine and Trauma Advisory Council and an active participant in student education at Memorial Hospital. Before joining UCHealth, Dr. Steinbruner was stationed at Fort Carson, where he was an emergency medicine physician at Evans Army Community Hospital. He deployed with the 10th Combat Support Hospital to Iraq in 2005 and distinguished himself by caring for combat casualties in Baghdad during one of the war’s most intense periods.
