Dr. Lewis began his career of service at the United States Military Academy at West Point. After graduation, he attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh followed by general surgery residency at the military’s only level 1 trauma center at Brooke Army Medical Center, in San Antonio, TX. He has served on Active Duty for 15 years in the US Army as a general surgeon stationed at Fort Carson, CO with 3 deployments to combat zones in Afghanistan and Syria, as well as a humanitarian mission to Honduras. Dr. Lewis was the chief of the General Surgery clinic at Evans Army Community Hospital on Fort Carson, CO prior to his employment with UC Health. He continues to serve the Colorado Springs community and the nation as a member of the US Army Reserves at Fort Carson, CO. Dr. Lewis cherishes the patient-physician relationship, helping patients understand and navigate their illness and their treatment options. Dr. Lewis strives to be compassionate and empathetic while delivering comprehensive, quality care.
Dr. Lewis is married with 3 children and enjoys the beautiful outdoors of Colorado, particularly fly fishing.
