A West Virginia native, Carol A. Foster, M.D. is a 1985 graduate of Marshall University School of Medicine. A migraine sufferer herself, Dr. Foster chose neurology as a specialty, and in 1989 completed neurology residency at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Arizona. Her time spent at the BNI also included a headache clerkship at the Princess Margaret Migraine Clinic in London. Later that same year, Dr. Foster began her practice in Phoenix, Arizona, establishing the Valley Neurological Headache and Research Center. By 1990, Dr. Foster had established her practice as a private clinic dedicated to the treatment and research of headache disorders. She is now a proud member of the UCHealth team, providing a comprehensive treatment approach for those with headache and concussion.
Dr. Foster offers aggressive neurological management needed for concussion and intractable and/or daily headaches; including a diagnostic neurological evaluation. Welcoming patients of all backgrounds, beliefs, races, ethnicities, ability levels, sexual orientations, and gender identities, we recognize that everyone’s struggle with headache and concussion is different. Our personalized and collaborative approach embraces these differences, combining medication and non-drug treatments according to each individual’s unique needs. Our team works closely with each individual to diagnose and manage concussion and specific headache types. In all cases, though, our goal is the same: to help patients achieve sustainable, long-term recovery and headache control. We believe the key to recovery is a healthy, consistent, "brain-friendly" lifestyle. Through close collaboration with our UCHealth team of specialists and community health, fitness, and nutritional experts, together with the patients' established healthcare teams, we seek to assist everyone we see in their recovery and an optimal level of wellness.
