A CU Medicine provider.

My practice is dedicated to the complex and specialized fields of Functional and Reconstructive Urology, where restoring optimal patient quality of life and achieving specific functional goals are paramount.

My commitment is to deliver the highest standard of care, treating every individual with the dignity, expertise, and personalized attention I would expect for my own family. This means moving beyond standard protocols to develop truly individualized treatment strategies that account for the patient’s specific anatomy, needs, and lifestyle desires, whether through non-surgical management or complex reconstructive procedures.

I instill this core commitment in our fellows, residents, and students by emphasizing that when faced with a clinical or surgical dilemma, they must first ask: “What would I want for myself or my loved one?” This simple, yet profound, perspective instantly provides the clarity needed to ensure that our recommendations are always ethical, empathetic, and ultimately patient-centered.

My passion for an active lifestyle beautifully balances challenging physical pursuits with intellectual engagement and time dedicated to my family. I maintain fitness and enjoy the mountains through trail running, hiking, skiing, mountain biking, and regular CrossFit training. Complementing my physical activities, I have a strong intellectual curiosity, particularly enjoying developments in electronics, technology, and the internet, alongside a keen interest in history. Above all, my priority is spending quality time with my family.

Clinical interest for patients

My practice specializes in Functional and Reconstructive Urology, which means I focus on restoring normal function and repairing complex issues of the urinary and reproductive systems. I provide expert, personalized care for a wide range of standard and complex conditions.

My specific areas of expertise include helping patients manage and treat urinary incontinence (leakage in both men and women), bothersome symptoms from an Overactive Bladder (OAB), and issues related to an enlarged prostate, known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). I also specialize in repairing pelvic organ prolapse (when organs drop or shift), and treating challenging conditions like urethral stricture disease (narrowing of the urethra) and genitourinary fistulas (abnormal connections or passages).

For patients requiring complex procedures, I offer advanced solutions, including robotic surgery for minimally invasive reconstruction and major bladder or ureteral reconstruction for injuries or severe scarring. Every treatment plan is guided by thorough diagnostic testing, including urodynamics, to ensure the most effective and precise care.

Research interest for patients

I am interested in clinical outcome research in Functional and Reconstructive Urology. I prospectively maintain a databank of cases from my practice with a special focus on urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, mesh removal, robotic surgery and urethral stricture disease. I have authored numerous clinical papers, instructional videos, and textbook chapters and have presented nationally on various topics, including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, transvaginal mesh removal, and urethral stricture disease. I have received funding for scientific research in the area of voiding dysfunction.

Volunteer activities

Beyond clinical care, I serve as an educator and advocate, actively contributing to the medical education of the public, nurses, and practicing physicians. I champion the latest advancements in functional and reconstructive urology by frequently presenting at professional meetings and seminars, and developing engaging multimedia content.
