In our present polarizing and divisive time, it may be hard to find a place in which you will be unconditionally received and accepted as you are. It may also be difficult to find someone you can trust enough to confide in and share your innermost confusing or distressing thoughts, feelings or behaviors for fear of being judged. My philosophy is to provide clients with a comforting space in which to “make the unsayable, sayable” and help them make sense of and alleviate their distress and struggles. After all, being able to know oneself well is the first step in being able to make difficult yet crucial changes in the pursuit of a meaningful and purposeful life.
I am a psychotherapist hailing from the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) in Texas with clinical experience working with children, adolescents and adults in schools, private practice, residential and community mental health settings. While bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish, I maintain a pluralistic and integrated approach to psychotherapy, tailoring my approach to meet the needs of each individual client while considering how various environmental factors and circumstances in a person’s life may be contributing to their difficulties.
Above all else, I appreciate and elevate the importance of the client-therapist relationship as a significant factor for desirable outcomes in psychotherapy. And I help clients explore alternative ways they can have their painful emotional, behavioral, and psychological difficulties named in ways that do not make assumptions about there being anything wrong with the individual.
Outside of the professional realm, I’m regularly biking or jogging around the Fort Collins trails, lifting weights at the gym, hiking, reading, writing or spending time fostering senior dogs with my significant other.
