Amy Goodwin is a Licensed Behavioral Counselor and a Level 3 Certified Addictions Counselor. She has been practicing in the mental health field for 30 years. Her career started with supporting domestic violence survivors then transitioning into other disciplines within the field of Mental Health. She currently works for UCHealth as a behavioral health counselor.

Amy employs psychotherapeutic principals and health psychology in order to help patients understand the role of the brain/mind in the process of healing or the possible creation/exacerbation of disease in the body. She uses cognitive/behavioral techniques to help people feel more empowered over their perceptions of experience and therefore, becoming more proficient in understanding the role of their emotions in health process. Cognitive/behavioral therapy focuses on changing the automatic negative thoughts that can contribute to and worsen emotional difficulties, such as depression and anxiety. Her work with the UCHealth Pain Management Clinic since 2014 also provides her the unique qualification as a pain education specialist.

She has a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. She has been a level 3 Certified Addictions Counselor since 2007. She is also a certified EMDR provider as well as a HeartMath-trained biofeedback provider.
