Clinical interest for patients

Emergency medicine

Research interest for patients

My primary research focus involves understanding the role of vitamin D in immune responses to infection, especially in high-risk populations, such as older adults and individuals with obstructive lung diseases. I am funded to perform clinical trials on the prevention and treatment of acute lung injury/ARDS. Another major area of interest is to characterize and improve access to high quality emergency care in rural and other underserved areas with a particular focus on workforce issues. My other research interests include emergency medicine-based public health and geriatrics.
